Greetings!
Here is the link to June’s Open Office Hour discussion about “Finding Matching Records:” https://my.nicheacademy.com/seo/course/50539
Questions
Q: Since paperbacks and hard cover items are on the same record, what is the best method to place a hold on a specific format?
A: Place a copy hold. Please note that if the item goes into missing, the hold will probably not be filled. There’s a BlueCloud Analytics report that you can run to see your copy holds that are unfillable available here.
Q: Since ISBN numbers frequently change, why is the LCCN number not a matching point?
A: The LCCN is a matching point for records. When a new record comes in from CatExpress, WorkFlows tries to match in the following order: 1) OCLC, 2) LCCN, and 3) ISBN. However, if a record already has an OCLC number, WorkFlows will not try to match on LCCN and ISBN.
Other Comments
Three large print copies of Clive Cussler’s Dark Vector was mentioned. Those were merged after the meeting.
Doug Walsh, Director of the St. Clairsville Public Library, talked about a new collection of LEGO kits for the library. It was well liked idea.
Final reminder from June’s office hours: If you find a duplicate in WorkFlows, please open a ticket at http://support.servingeveryohioan.org to let the SEO staff know. It is easier for us to merge records before items go into transit.
