For libraries using the Autorenewal service:
Along with SEO’s move to Patron Point for Courtesy and Autorenewal notices, we will be implementing a new autorenewal report for those libraries using this service. Prior to this update, the autorenewal report would renew eligible items the day an item was due during the 9 pm hour. Your users would receive an e-mail with a list of items that renewed and a list of items that could not be renewed. Courtesy notices are sent 3 days before an item is due. Your user will not lose any loan time due to the early renewal. Although the item is being renewed before the due date, the item will be renewed according to the due date.
With the new courtesy/autorenew notices:
1.) The autorenew report will run 3 days before an item is due. If successful, the patron will receive a list of items renewed.
2.) If not successful, courtesy notices will be sent.
3.) The autorenew report will continue trying to renew the item until its due date.
Here is a scenario:
The user has two items checked out both of which have a 28-day loan period. Both items are due on October 3.
On October 1, the report will try to renew the items.
• Item A is successful and gets a new due date of October 31.
• Item B is not successful and remains due on October 3.
• An autorenew notice is sent with Item A.
• A courtesy notice is sent with Item B.
On October 2, the report will try to renew item B again.
• Item B is not successful and remains due on October 3.
• No notices are generated.
On October 3, the report will try to renew item B again.
• Item B is successful and is now due on October 31.
• An autorenew notice is sent with Item B.
The new autorenewal notices will be sent at 7 am with courtesy notices being sent at 7:15 am.
